Hats

One of the interesting things about living here in a rural area is the hats. For some reason almost all of the men here wear a baseball type hat. They are usually advertising something like a tractor company, or a fishing bait company, etc.

I’ve got one that advertises a Home Builder, another a Movie Production company. Also, because such a lot of the people here are veterans, they proudly wear a hat showing with whom they served and where. And so they should.

You very rarely see a bare hat without any lettering on it. And, the hat etiquette seems to be that you put your hat on when you leave the house and don’t take it off until you get home again. So it is a common sight to see men wearing their hats while driving, sitting in the movies, in a restaurant, or in a store.

I am not immune to the hat culture, my favorite hat has a couple of tiny lights embedded in the front of the brim and a button switch under the brim to switch your hat on whenever the spirit moves you. So you can walk around with your hat ablaze and even light your way to your seat in the movies. When there, you can check out the level of your popcorn and even annoy the people in front when they are talking. Although that last example might not be too wise.

So there you are.  most of the men here wear their hat when outside, and usually their sunglasses. Later.
